Monday Ideal 18 Fun Sailing and HarborQ Cookout

Every Monday June 26th through Aug 14th. Friends and families of all abilities are welcome to set sail for an evening of social, Ideal 18 fun afloat in Stonington Harbor.  Participants of all ages and abilities will be paired according to skill. We’ll meet on the bricks at 5:00, assign boats and head out for about 1.5 hours.  Those just wanting to enjoy the cookout may gather on the bricks starting at 6:00.  You may bring your own food to cook or enjoy Club provided protein, salads and desserts.  The regular menu is not available on these evenings.  Full bar and beverages are available. This is the most casual of evenings at SHYC and a true DIY gem.  Reservations are suggested. Certified Ideal 18 volunteers skippers are always appreciated.

  • Tuesday:

Our fleet is being offered to the Special Olympic Program so there are no club activities in the evening,            but boats can be used throughout the day.

  • Wednesday at 5:30pm:

Stonington Harbor Dingy Club Wednesday Night Races in the harbor

All boats 20’ and below can race. Individual Ideal 18s can be reserved for the entire series for $250; first           come first reserved. Optimists can be reserved as well.

Womens Sailing: Sail the Ideal 18s with a wonderful collection of ladies of all ages (8-80) and abilities who           both enjoy sailing and each other’s company. Group happy hour and dinner with spouses and friends at the club           follows. The goal of the program is to promote sailing skills in a supportive and social environment. We do           not go out if there are high winds or storms, but instead gather in the clubhouse to work on knots or other           sailing related topics.

Special events throughout the season include a destination sail/picnic, the 3rd Annual Ladies Challenge           Regatta at Essex YC and the end of the season celebration.
