Whether you are a summer resident of Stonington or live full-time in the area, you will find the club a wonderful place to meet interesting people and develop lasting friendships. SHYC's 300 members include people from all walks of life including current and retired professionals in the world of business, government, academics, and medicine just to name a few. A number of them are accomplished yachting enthusiasts while others are newcomers to the pastime. And still others simply enjoy a year round Social and Dining Club filled with year round activities. For these reasons, you will be inspired and fascinated by fellow members, whose enthusiasm for club life make it easy for the new member to quickly build a great network of friends.
The numerous boating and social events and activities that crowd the club's year-round calendar offer many opportunities to engage in friendly competition on the water, cruise in company to destinations up and down the coast, attend lavish gala events and smaller informal gatherings, and simply relax among friends around the bar or in the club dining room. No other club in southeast Connecticut offers so many member functions, for a full 12 months, all offered with fun in mind.
